World Cup-winning rugby legend Jason Robinson OBE as Patron of Delta Academies Trust
We are delighted to announce inspirational, World Cup-winning rugby legend Jason Robinson OBE as Patron of Delta Academies Trust.
Jason has been a generous and enthusiastic supporter of his former primary school, now Park View Academy, for a number of years and his patronage celebrates his ongoing commitment to ensure all of the Trust’s young people have the chance to discover their sporting potential – no matter where they start.
As well as his significant support and commitment to the Trust and its academies, Jason also brings a record of outstanding sporting achievement in both Rugby League and Rugby Union, having played in three world cup finals, scoring England’s only try to help secure the 2003 Rugby Union World Cup in Sydney, Australia.
As Patron, Jason will champion our schools and Trust, so that together we can achieve our goal of providing direction, belief and opportunity for young people in some of the most disadvantaged communities in our region. This builds on the trailblazing work of the Jason Robsinson Foundation and its Unstoppable project, which has already broken down barriers and unlocked new pathways of possibility for some 7,000 young people, via sport, leadership and mentorship programmes, helping young people build resilience, develop healthy habits, and fulfil their potential.
Delta Academies Trust CEO, Andy Barnett said: “We’re thrilled and deeply honoured to welcome Jason as our first Trust Patron. His enthusiasm and passion to support every child to fulfil their potential means every time he visits, he brings excitement and enthusiasm to children, families and staff.
“Our Trust plays a key role in transforming lives and with Jason’s inspiring support, we will be able to develop and expand our impact even further via our Sporting Pathways programme. This innovative programme provides all children at Delta schools with the opportunity to enjoy, play, compete and represent their school in a range of sporting activities, underpinned by investment in both facilities and staff.

“Jason’s deep connection to our region and his genuine passion for our work makes him the perfect champion to help us realise our bold vision for the future.”
Accepting the patronage, the world cup winning rugby legend said: “I’ve known for a long time how transformative encouragement and support at school can be, after my primary school teacher first introduced me to rugby, the sport that changed my life.
“The impact of Delta Academies Trust on the lives of children, including some of the most disadvantaged, across our region is truly inspirational and I’m delighted to be combining my love for sport with my passion for supporting children and young people to discover their potential, regardless of their starting point.
“When Delta asked me to be its first Patron I accepted without hesitation. I’m excited to get involved and meet more of the passionate and committed Delta team. We are determined to go above and beyond for Delta’s pupils and students and unlock transformational sporting opportunities for the more than 30,000 children at Delta schools. I’m looking forward to how much we will achieve together. ”
