School Council and School Leadership

At Ryecroft, we believe that leadership is an important skill for pupils to acquire. As a result, we provide diverse opportunities to take a lead in everyday learning. We have a school council who evaluate our school and use Council meetings to discuss issues such as safeguarding, how pupils learn and gather pupils’ views on their wellbeing.

Our school council members will campaign to be elected by their peers, using their persuasion and oracy skills.

In EYFS we have Area Monitors who take responsibilitiy for the areas in the classroom. We also have Snack Monitors in EYFS and KS1.

Pupils also have the opportunity to apply for key roles such as librarians, running our reward shop or setting up for assemblies, Thrive Assistants, KS1 Assistants, Breakfast Club Assistant and Salad Bar Assistants. This encourages children to take ownership of our school as a collective enterprise, which we all contribute to and try to improve.
